Activities and Outings

We have a full-time Activities Team who have a wide experience of physical, mental and social stimulation.  They are highly qualified in the care field with a wealth of practical experience.  In addition to this they continually strive to increase their knowledge by attending training courses and visiting other units.  The enthusiasm is such that everyone becomes involved in activities and outings.

Group activities include coffee mornings, word searches and quizzes and sing-a-longs, art therapy sessions and arts and crafts. In addition to these practical groups we encourage the residents to participate in needlework, baking, flower arranging and gardening, a few other activities we provide. We are of course aware that not everyone wishes to participate in group activities so time is set aside for one-toone sessions.

Recently we have introduced a new project which is called 'Wish upon a Dream', which consists of the residents each having an individual outing experience of their choosing.

Our philosophy in Abbeyfield is to encourage residents to retain or regain their community links and so make sure to arrange plenty of visits to library, local shops etc and that they are featured in our day-to-day activities schedule, weather permitting of course.

More information on all activities is available on request if you contact us.
