Activities and Outings

We have a full-time Activities Team who have a wide experience of physical, mental and social stimulation. They are highly qualified in the care field with a wealth of practical experience. In addition to this they continually strive to increase their knowledge by attending training courses and visiting other units. The enthusiasm is such that everyone becomes involved in activities and outings.
During the week group activities take place; the morning is devoted to stretching everyone's brains; with word wheels, crosswords, word searches and then music and movement get the blood pumping!
In the afternoon in good weather the Gardening club meet up, however when the Scottish climate doesn't agree with outdoor pursuits we have regular games of Bingo and Connect 4, as well as the new Computing club which many residents are taking advantage of!
Spending one-to-one time with our residents is one of Abbeyfields main priorities and our staff regularly spend this time building memory books with our residents. As well as this Our residents regularly enjoy going out for lunch to nearby restaurants.
And looking to the future, we already have visits to local garden centres and lunch out at the Gailes and Harry Ramsdens to look forward to.
If that wasn't enough staff are already beginning to organise Christmas outings, with a Pantomime already booked!
